Keep in mind that the Australian dollar is actually stronger than the U.S. dollar.

One U.S. dollar buys .95 of an Australian dollar at current exchange rates.

Australian news sources are currently reporting that trays of Australian mangoes are trading anywhere from $35.00 for top quality fruit down to $10.00 (Australian) for poor quality!

Keep in mind that some trays weigh as much as 10 kilos compared with trays in USA that are 4 kilos.

Now that means that the worst quality fruit is roughly  what USA premium fruit imported from Brazil and Ecuador is currently trading at, and their premium fruit is three times the going rate in USA market.

No wonder Australia barely exports 20% of their production.

No market in the world can compete with local pricing in Australia!...

Here is the latest pricing from the AMIA website:

MANGO PRICING AND QUALITY IS ALL OVER THE PLACE AS DIFFERENT REGIONS COME ON LINE IN AUSTRALIA ...

Mango prices 'all over the shop' because of varying quality

Tuesday, 01/11/2011

One of the wholesalers at the Perth Markets in Western Australia has described the quality of Kimberley mangoes as being "all over the shop".

The price for quality mangoes is staying strong at above $30 a tray, but John Mercer, from Mercer Mooney, says a lot of fruit coming down is just not up to scratch, and growers are being punished.

'There's a reasonable quantity of just average fruit coming down," he said.

"They just don't meet the specifications of the major customers and prices have been down as low as $10 a tray - but that's because it's not good fruit, the good fruit is still getting good money."

The picking season in the Kimberley is expected to last another three to four weeks.

The Ord Valley is expected to produce over 200,000 trays.

Walker's World: Euro for sale

by Martin Walker
New York (UPI) Oct 31, 2011

Welcome to the new euro, a wholly owned subsidiary of China, Inc.

That, at least, is the implication of the embarrassingly hasty arrival in Beijing of Klaus Regling, the chief of the European Financial Stability Facility.
The ink was still drying on the late-night agreement between European leaders as he boarded the plane for the middle kingdom, seeking to learn just how much of China's $3.2 trillion reserves might be tempted to invest in the great euro bailout.

"The foreign exchange reserves of China go up every month, therefore there is a need for investment," Regling told the assembled media as he arrived for talks with officials from China's central bank and finance ministry.

"I am happy that EFSF bonds have been considered to be in that category in the past, and therefore I am optimistic that we will have also a longer-term relationship because we will continue to provide safe, attra…

SOME NORTHERN TERRITORY MANGO GROWERS ARE EXPERIENCING BUMPER CROP ...

Bumper crop means cheap mangoes

Perth consumers are set for a mango boom with a bumper Ord Valley crop driving down prices for the tropical fruit.

Kununurra packing shed operator Quentin Parker said a favourable growing season meant Kimberley mango farms were flush with fruit.

"I've got one customer who did 4000 trays last year and he'll do 27,000 this year," he said.

Mr Parker said his packing shed was sending about two semi- trailers of mangoes to Perth each day and had packed 80,000 trays with about 40,000 more to go.

He estimated the Ord Valley would produce more than 200,000 trays this year.

Tony Tonich, fruit sales manager for Perth market agent AllStates, said the bumper Ord crop and strong supplies from the Northern Territory were good news for consumers.

"At the moment there's a huge volume of mangoes on the market," Mr Tonich said.

"So the consumer in the shop should be …
