Dear Mr. Cavan,
On behalf of WWF, I would like to invite you to the launch of WWF's Living Forest Report (Chapter 3): REDD+ at a Crossroads.
Compiled with the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), this examines the question of whether it is possible to reduce and eventually reverse forest loss and forest related carbon emissions by 2020 - and whether this can be done without compromising agricultural and other production.
The launch will start immediately after the meeting of the REDD+ Partnership in the same hotel.

Major retailers like Wal-Mart, Tesco and Carrefour will now be able to invest in Indian retail - albeit with a number of conditions
An executive decision by India's cabinet to ease laws on foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country's retail market was met with opposition from large sections of the parliament.
Under the decision, announced yesterday (24 November), foreign companies can now own 51% of multi-brand retail stores. Previously, major retailers like Wal-Mart Stores,Tesco and Metro could only sell wholesale in India.
However, opposition groups, and even some key government allies, were furious at the decision, claiming it will force smaller retailers out of business and hit prices paid to farmers. As the ruling was made by the cabinet, it did not to go to a parliamentary vote.
In a press conference yesterday, commerce minister Anand Sharma said 10m jobs will be created over the next three years a…
When our kids were younger, trips gift-shopping could be quite an adventure. Many of these harried moments were important learning times about proper money management... maybe more than a successful shopping experience.
"Why can't I just get a toy for me??"
"But you said I have a hundred dollars in my bank account!!"
"How come adults always get to buy something?!"
Seems to me that little inner-voice of desire stays with us even as we get older. Hopefully, we learn to say no to it more often and are always thankful for our blessings.
Like many families this season, we are striving to keep our gift budget to an appropriate level, and give gifts that won't go to waste.
In that spirit, we are thanking you with a special offer.
- Each dried mango package order, 10 packs and larger will receive 2 FREE bags of Mangorind fruit candy treats (Until December 25th, no coupon code …

Maersk Container Industry (MCI)’s patented Star Cool controlled atmosphere (CA) system will be on public display for the first time at the Intermodal 2011 exhibition in Hamburg next week.
Designed to extend post harvest life and preserve product quality, the system is claimed to allow respiring fruits, such as bananas, avocados and mangoes, to be shipped in containers over far longer distances than has hitherto been possible.
The system uses a CO2-selective membrane inside the container and a vacuum pump outside to accurately control the atmosphere in the container in a cost effective way without adding any external gases.
As the products respire and produce carbon dioxide, the Star Cool CA system automatically extracts the excess CO2 via the membrane, while a fresh air valve opens as required to maintain the lower limit of oxygen to control the optimum atmosphere inside the container for the specific product being carried.
