Three winning tickets sold in record $656 million U.S. lottery

By David Beasley

ATLANTA | Sat Mar 31, 2012 9:28pm EDT

(Reuters) - The largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history - a whopping $656 million - will be shared by the buyers of three winning Mega Millions tickets in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland - but their identities remained a mystery, lottery officials said on Saturday.

A pre-dawn call alerted Denise Metzger, manager of a Motomart convenience store, to news from lottery officials that her store had sold a winning ticket in the tiny farming community of Red Bud in southern Illinois, with less than 4,000 residents, about 30 miles southeast of St. Louis.

"I screamed, I woke my husband up," said Metzger, whose retail outlet will receive $500,000 for selling a winning ticket.

The Mega Millions lottery created a stir across the country, with people rushing to buy the $1 tickets in time for a shot at the humongous jackpot.

In all, more than a billion tickets were sold.

DEPRAVADO: Narcos mexicanos invaden las redes sociales ....

VVRG - Globovisión/Alianza
31/03/2012 6:00:54 p.m.

MONORAIL: Novel idea for crossing freight between Mexico and USA ....

Freight monorail: Now come questions

El Paso Times Editorial Board
Posted: 03/28/2012 12:00:00 AM MDT

Mayor John Cook's vision of a monorail shuttling freight across the border is in the "it's a good idea" stage. And if this project would truly be a private enterprise, that makes it all the more appealing.

There are still questions, of course.

The mayor told members of the El Paso Times Editorial Board that this proposed monorail would be:

An investment using private money (some $800 million); with freight companies paying to use the system, if they so choose.

Because it would be built on pillars, it would need only a five-foot footprint where each pillar hit the ground -- and it would extend three to five miles inside Mexico to three to five miles into the U.S. Freight would be secured at the inland sites and travel by a type of tram across the border.

It would allow freight companies to have an appointed time to cross. Now it's just a queue of trucks lining up.

LOGISTICS: Do you know the difference between 3PL & 4PL??? should ...

A Comparison between 3PL Logistics and the 4PL Model

The field of inventory storage and distribution is a very dynamic one.
With the changing nature of goods, logistics firms also need to reinvent themselves constantly.
Till some time ago, 3PL logistics firms prevailed. However, in the recent past, the emergence of 4PL logistics has led to several changes in this field.

Since these 3PL and 4PL are such widely used terms, it is important to know what they mean.

Firstly, 3PL stands for third party logistics. These are essentially businesses that provide a single or multiple types of logistics-related services. Most companies outsource their requirements to such firms. The services offered by these firms typically comprise contract warehousing, packing and distribution services, transportation management along with freight and inventory management.

On the other hand, 4PL is basically an arrangement wherein a firm outsources the abovementioned services to a 3PL firm and additionally hires…
