THE BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL: 100 YEARS AGO ....

Did you know The Beverly Hills Hotel was built by Margaret J. Anderson and opened on May 12, 1912, two years before there was even a city called Beverly Hills.

Its developers hoped to lure wealthy Easterners to retire in what were then open fields west of Los Angeles.

Shortly after the Hotel’s opening, Beverly Hills had attracted enough residents to incorporate as a city, which it officially became on January 3, 1914.
