STORM BREWING IN THE ATLANTIC ....

Here are computer models for the Tropical Wave in the Eastern Atlantic at the moment (Invest 95).

As you can see, if it does develop it will follow the southern rim of the Bermuda high and head westward towards the US.

We need more data at the moment to determine if it will develop into a Tropical Storm or Hurricane.

However, this storm looks to be slowly organizing and if it can develop a closed center then it has the potential to develop into something.

A MAP OF THE WORLD'S OLDEST TREES ...

How old are the world’s oldest trees and clonal colonies?

"A clonal colony or genet is a group of genetically identical individuals, such as plants, fungi, or bacteria, that have grown in a given location, all originating vegetatively, not sexually, from a single ancestor."

" In plants, an individual in such a population is referred to as a ramet. In fungi, "individuals" typically refers to the visible fruiting bodies or mushrooms that develop from a common mycelium which, although spread over a large area, is otherwise hidden in the soil. Clonal colonies are common in many plant species. Although many plants reproduce sexually through the production of seed, reproduction occurs by underground stolons or rhizomes in some plants."

" Above ground, these plants appear to be distinct individuals, but underground they remain interconnected and are all clones of the same plant. However, it is not always easy to recognize a clonal colony especially if it spread…

Taking their cue in part from regional examples of cooperation such as the European Union, and buoyed by the recent economic opening of Myanmar, the 10 countries that make up the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) plan to form a Southeast Asian economic community by the end of 2015.

An economic community would cut trade costs and make it easier to do business across Southeast Asia – adding to the region's already-burgeoning appeal to outsid…

The comments by the Russian lawmaker, Aleksei Pushkov, the chairman of the international affairs committee of the State Duma, the lower house of Parliament, came just a few hours after Venezuela and Nicaragua extended the first firm offers of asylum to Mr. Snowden, who has been holed up at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow for nearly two weeks, and they seemed to reflect …

ROME — A fugitive Italian mobster, who allegedly arranged major shipments of South American cocaine to Europe each month and was one of the world's most powerful drug brokers, has been captured in a Colombian shopping mall, authorities said Saturday.

De Gennaro described Pannunzi as being able to `'move thousands of kilos of cocaine – out of every 10 shipments, eight passed through" Pannunzi's hands, De Gennaro said, as Italian law enforcement officials and prosecutors rejoiced over his capture.

Italian news reports said the fugitive, who fled while under arrest in a private Rome clinic in 2010, was cap…

Erick Strengthens To Hurricane Off Mexico's Pacific Coast

07/06/13 12:58 PM ET EDT

MEXICO CITY — Erick strengthened to a hurricane off of southern Mexico Saturday, threatening to dump heavy rain as it skirts the country's Pacific coast.

The presence of the Category 1 hurricane forced the closure of the seaport of Manzanillo, Mexico's biggest container port.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Erick became a hurricane as its maximum sustained winds grew to around 80 mph (110 kph).

The hurricane was centered about 90 miles (145 kilometers) south of Manzanillo and was moving northwest at 9 mph (15 kph), on a track roughly parallel to the coast for the states of Guerrero, Colima and Jalisco.

A hurricane watch was declared for Punta San Telmo to Cabo Corrientes, and a tropical storm warning was in effect from the resort of Zihuatanejo westward to Cabo Corrientes.
