SOUTH FLORIDA MANGO SEASON : TOO MUCH RAIN CAUSES FRUIT TO SPLIT ON TREE !!! ...

It was a tough year for mangoes, and rougher than we expected for the Southern Blush.

The crop was small to start off but then we got rain, and more rain, and more rain.

There is only so much juicy goodness they can hold.

A large portion of the fruit literally split open on the trees.

There will be no more Southern Blush shipments and they will be very limited at the Farm Stand.

In addition, Erickson Farm is reporting that there will be NO Keitt crop this year....

Though both hedonic and eudaimonic behaviour bring pleasure, the eudaimonic sort also brings health.

NATIONAL MANGO BOARD (NMB) MISSES ANOTHER MARKETING OPPORTUNITY

IMO NOTE:

Unlike the successful Avocado Board Coop Promotion with Subway chain of Restaurants, the NMB has been lacking in creativity and has yet to score a "high visibility" ad campaign for mangoes in the USA in spite of having squandered tens of millions of dollars in the past 8 years ...

The Subway chain has launched mango on the menu and the NMB is no where to be seen.

By Antonia Hawken

Subway has launched a new limited-edition mango chicken as part of its reinvigorated lunch option.

Recommended as being best served cold, the new flavour on a sub or flatbread contains one of the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. As a salad, it contains two portions.
