REVISED AGENDA: IPO Global Pineapple Conference (Hawaii) has been reformatted

The International Pineapple (IPO) Global Pineapple Conference (Hawaii) scheduled for Wednesday, June 18th, 2014 has been reformatted from a one day event to a multi Island visit.

Due to Hawaii's unique geography and the multiple operations that are located at different Islands, The IPO has taken a decision to cover as much ground as physically possible.

New Agenda:

Sunday, June 15th, 2014:

Arrive Honolulu.

Monday, June 16th, 2014:

Morning:Travel to Kona, (Island of Hawaii)

Meeting with Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers (HTFG)

Kona, Hawaii

Tuesday June 17th, 2014;

Early morning flight to Maui:

Visit to Maui Gold Pineapple Plantation

Lunch on Maui.

Evening in Maui. 

Wednesday June 18th, 2014:

Travel to Oahu...


The day-long Conference has been reformatted to a 2 hour Lunch with Dr. Duane Bartholomew and Dr. Robert Paull. 12pm-2pm (Hilton Hawaiian Village)

Thursday June 19th, 2014:

Visit to DOLE Pineapple Plantation

Friday June 20th, 2014:

Visit to Frankie's Nursery (Home of the World's Sweetest Pineapple (22Brix)

Saturday June 21st, 2014:

Optional tours on Oahu

Sunday June 22nd 2014:

Depart Hawaii.

INDIA 2016 : Mango production in state likely to take a hit this year

Mangaluru: Vagaries of nature is expected to take a toll on the production of King of Fruits - Mango - in Karnataka this year. A combination of failure of pre-monsoon showers at the flowering and growth stage and spike in temperature in mango growing belt of the state is expected to limit the total production of mango to an estimated 12 lakh tonnes in the current season as against 14 lakh tonnes in the last calendar year.

However, the good news for fruit lovers is that this could see price of mangoes across varieties decrease marginally by 2-3%. This is mainly on account of 'import' of the fruit from other mango-growing states in India, said M Kamalakshi Rajanna, chairperson, Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Ltd.

Karnataka is the third largest mango-growing state in India after Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
