Según publicó el diario ABC de España el mismo día de su detención, el avión en el que llegó aAruba –donde fue detenido- el ex jefe de Inteligencia Militar de Venezuela, Hugo Carvajal, sería propiedad de un testaferro de Rafael Martínez, vicepresidente del Área Económica, ministro de Petróleo y Minería y presidente de la empresa pública PDVSA.





Tal como habrían revelado fuentes de Washington al mismo portal, Carvajal “se encargaba de la recogida de la droga de las FARC y controlaba todo el proceso de distribución a Estados Unidos y Europa, y también se ocupaba del lavado de dinero a través de la petrolera PDVSA”.





Es por eso que el gobierno de Nicolás Maduro teme que la detención del candidato a cónsul en Aruba revele más datos acerca de la corrupción chavista, cuyo símbolo es precisamente Carvajal. Y por ello mismo el presidente “se la juega” con el funcionario y lo defenderá hasta las últimas consecuencias, lo que tal vez se reafirme lo que por estas horas se viene repitiendo: el arresto puede implicar “el principio del fin” del chavismo.





Ocurre que PDVSA ha sido señalado en reiteradas oportunidades como uno de los corazones de la corrupción venezolana, en tanto su economía pasa justamente por una comercialización del crudo que mueve cifras millonarias.





El periódico español agrega que “el general llegó a Aruba precisamente en un avión propiedad de un testaferro de Rafael Ramírez, presidente de la petrolera”. 





Pero el medio fue más allá y afirmó que Carvajal puede aportar extraordinaria información “sobre la relación de la Venezuela chavista con Hezbollah e Irán“.







Las fuentes estadounidenses citadas por ABC se refirieron a Carvajal “como Pablo Escobar y Vladimiro Montesinos juntos, un jefe de inteligencia metido a capo de la droga”, lo que va en línea con lo señalado por el coronel perseguido por el chavismo, Julio Rodríguez Salas, a Infobae TV: “Hugo Carvajal es peor que Pablo Escobar Gaviria”.






El “Pollo” sería, más aún, la figura estelar de la trama del narcotráfico puesta en marcha por el propio Hugo Chávez.

Mangaluru: Vagaries of nature is expected to take a toll on the production of King of Fruits - Mango - in Karnataka this year. A combination of failure of pre-monsoon showers at the flowering and growth stage and spike in temperature in mango growing belt of the state is expected to limit the total production of mango to an estimated 12 lakh tonnes in the current season as against 14 lakh tonnes in the last calendar year.



However, the good news for fruit lovers is that this could see price of mangoes across varieties decrease marginally by 2-3%. This is mainly on account of 'import' of the fruit from other mango-growing states in India, said M Kamalakshi Rajanna, chairperson, Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Ltd.




Karnataka is the third largest mango-growing state in India after Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
