En un reciente artículo publicado por el Wall Street Journal , la periodista y conocedora de vinos Lettie Teague nos relata su experiencia al visitar el ya internacionalmente famoso Valle de Guadalupe, haciendo hincapié en el hecho de que de todos los lugares que han sido considerados como el "Nuevo Napa Valley", los viñedos del Valle de Guadalupe son de los pocos lugares que cumplen con la expectativa y más.










Teague hace una exploración breve de la historia moderna de las vinícolas bajacalifornianas y de los varietales más populares que se cosechan en el Valle de Guadaupe, sin embargo, hace una mención especial a Cavas del Mogor donde dijo haber entendido y encontrado la "magia de hacer vino mexicano".












Las Cavas del Mogor, son parte de una vinícola rústica y estilizada fundada en 1952 por una pareja de suizos-franceses (Henri Badan y Clotilde Dangon), la cual inició como una granja donde se cultivaba uva para venderla a las vinícolas grandes de la zona. 





Originalmente el señor Badan plantaba Cabernet, Merlot y Cabernet Franc, con los años su hijo comenzaría a crecer Chasselas.





 En 1985 comenzaron a hacer su propio vino y poco a poco se transformó en una de las mejores vinícolas de Valle de Guadalupe e incluso abrió un mercado con venta de sus productos.










Las Cavas de Mogor se han convertido en una de las más significativas de la zona debido a que todo lo que hacen es de la manera más orgánica, incluso el agua con la que cosechan es traida de las montañas cercanas, ya que prefieren no utilizar el agua que corre por las tuberías de la zona, sobretodo considerando que hay ocasiones en las que escacea.



Otro nuevo elemento dentro de la vinícola es el restaurante del Chef estadounidense Drew Deckman, llamado "Deckman's en el Mogor" el cual utiliza sólo productos endémicos de la zona para crear combinaciones únicas con el vino de las Cavas del Mogor.




 La experiencia de comer es de lo más rústico posible, manteniendo un gran nivel de calidad, sin embargo, el propio Deckman lo denomina un "anti restaurante".

Mangaluru: Vagaries of nature is expected to take a toll on the production of King of Fruits - Mango - in Karnataka this year. A combination of failure of pre-monsoon showers at the flowering and growth stage and spike in temperature in mango growing belt of the state is expected to limit the total production of mango to an estimated 12 lakh tonnes in the current season as against 14 lakh tonnes in the last calendar year.



However, the good news for fruit lovers is that this could see price of mangoes across varieties decrease marginally by 2-3%. This is mainly on account of 'import' of the fruit from other mango-growing states in India, said M Kamalakshi Rajanna, chairperson, Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Ltd.




Karnataka is the third largest mango-growing state in India after Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
