Encabeza México exportaciones mundiales de mango

En 2013, el valor de las exportaciones de mango mexicano se incrementó 16 por ciento, con lo que México se consolidó como el primer lugar mundial de ventas de este producto, informó la Secretaría de Agricultura, Ganadería, Desarrollo Rural, Pesca y Alimentación (Sagarpa).





A través de un comunicado, la dependencia federal detalló que las ventas internacionales, realizadas a 22 países, alcanzaron el año pasado los 273 millones 491 mil dólares, con un volumen de aproximadamente 312.5 mil toneladas.






De acuerdo con la Sagarpa, los principales destinos de exportación de este producto nacional son Estados Unidos, Canadá, Japón, Reino Unido y los Países Bajos.







Otros países a los que llega el mango mexicano son Bélgica, España, Francia, Alemania, Guatemala, Austria, Suiza, Australia, Costa Rica, Israel, Italia, Luxemburgo, Nueva Zelanda, Brasil, Corea del Sur, Colombia y Suecia.






A su vez, el Servicio de Información Agroalimentaria y Pesquera (SIAP) precisó que la producción total de este fruto en México fue de un millón y medio de toneladas, con un consumo per cápita en el país de 11 kilogramos.






El organismo de la Sagarpa, precisó además que el mango se produce en 23 entidades federativas, de las cuales, 10 contribuyen con el 98 por ciento del total de la producción nacional.





Destacó que Guerrero es el principal productor con 22 por ciento del total, seguido de Nayarit, con 17 por ciento y Sinaloa con un 14 por ciento, entidades que en conjunto participan con el 53 por ciento de la producción nacional. 



El resto de la producción se registra en Chiapas, Oaxaca, Michoacán, Veracruz, Jalisco, Colima y Campeche.






Con el fin de fomentar el consumo de este fruto, la Sagarpa, a través de la Agencia de Servicios a la Comercialización y Desarrollo de Mercados Agropecuarios (Aserca), impulsa una campaña de difusión para dar a conocer al consumidor los beneficios de este fruto.

Mangaluru: Vagaries of nature is expected to take a toll on the production of King of Fruits - Mango - in Karnataka this year. A combination of failure of pre-monsoon showers at the flowering and growth stage and spike in temperature in mango growing belt of the state is expected to limit the total production of mango to an estimated 12 lakh tonnes in the current season as against 14 lakh tonnes in the last calendar year.



However, the good news for fruit lovers is that this could see price of mangoes across varieties decrease marginally by 2-3%. This is mainly on account of 'import' of the fruit from other mango-growing states in India, said M Kamalakshi Rajanna, chairperson, Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Ltd.




Karnataka is the third largest mango-growing state in India after Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
