Arrest of Jairo Orellana Morales, alias "El Pelon"

Authorities in Guatemala have captured a powerful Mexico cartel-linked drug kingpin who controlled three key land trafficking routes, raising the question of who will take his place.

Guatemalan Special Forces tracked Jairo Orellana Morales, alias "El Pelon," to the municipality of Gualan, in the eastern department of Zacapa, where they engaged in a firefight with his bodyguards, reported elPeriodico

Authorities said they had been tracking Orellana since August 2013. After his capture, he was immediately moved to an air force base before being transferred to capital Guatemala City to avoid any rescue attempts, reported Prensa Libre.

IATA no descarta que líneas aéreas cancelen más vuelos a Venezuela

El vicepresidente regional de IATA, Peter Cerda, señaló que las liquidaciones de divisas pendientes en Venezuela con las aerolíneas no se han cancelado y apuntó que no se descarta que ante esos retrasos en los pagos se registre la cancelación de más vuelos.

Señaló que "las líneas aéreas han hecho acercamientos con el Gobierno para llegar a un acuerdo con los pagos. Hace un mes se reunieron, pero hasta el momento no han recibido lo que se ha acordado en esas reuniones".

Ante la reciente decisión de Alitalia de suspender sus vuelos a partir del dos de junio, Cerda indicó que es posible que más empresas tomen medidas similares.

"Si la situación sigue empeorándose, las líneas aéreas tendrán que tomar medidas drásticas y esas medidas seguramente serán las cancelaciones de más vuelos",
señaló en entrevista a CNN en Español el jueves en la noche el representante de la Asociación Internacional de Transporte Aéreo (IATA, por sus siglas en inglés).

APL, MOL and HMM launch new Americas service

APL, Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) will inaugurate their new Andes Express Service (AES) on the trade between South America West Coast - US East Coast on 19 May.

The weekly service will have the following rotation: Valparaiso (Chile)-Callao(Peru)- Buenaventura (Colombia) Balboa (Panama)-Manzanillo (Panama)- Jacksonville-New York- Charleston Miami-Cartagena (Colombia)-Manzanillo (Panama)- Balboa- Buenaventura (Colombia)-Callao (Peru)-Valparaiso (Chile).

This new service in six 2,700 teu-vessels with high reefer intake: MOL contributing three vessels, APL two and HMM one . The first voyage will begin from Valparaiso with the MOL vessel Inca voyage 041 calling ports on the South American West Coast, transiting the Panama Canal and later pursuing her voyage to the US East Coast.
