Mango lovers headed to Oahu this summer may want to consider a July 18 visit to the Moana Surfrider, a Westin Resort & Spa in Waikiki.
The hotel will hold its 7th annual “Mangoes at the Moana” event from 9 am to 4 pm on the 18th, featuring a busy schedule of mango-related seminars, workshops, cooking demonstrations, a best mango competition, mango cocktail-making contests, and the “Mango Throw Down,” a very popular cooking competition between top island chefs.
The festival offers travelers a great chance to mingle with Hawaii residents and learn more about the delicious fruit, including how to best raise a top-producing mango tree or how to make a proper mango scone.
They’ll also be an array of locally-made mango products for sale, such as artisanal soap and health care products.
Travelers not able to join the “Mangoes at the Moana” fun July 18 can still sample a variety of mango offerings at the Moana Surfrider throughout July at the resort’s Veranda and the Beachhouse at the Moana restaurants.
Mango-inspired dishes like mango chicken sausage, mango bread, mango mousse cake or even mango macaroons and more will be available.
