AUSTRALIA : Nippers get messy at mango 'Mess-tival'

Summer officially returned on Sunday when Aussie Mangoes partnered with the North Bondi Nippers once again at the Annual Mango Mess-tival. 

This year’s event, funded, organised and facilitated by Horticulture Innovation Australia (Hort Innovation) and Aussie Mangoes, saw thousands of Nippers get messy with mangoes.

The Prime Minister, the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull, joined Sunday’s event and experienced a surf club walk-through, showing his love of a Honey Gold mango. 

It was the fourth year in a row the Mess-tival descended on Bondi Beach for another jam-packed event full of sun, sand, mangoes and mess.

Event fun included fast and furious eating competitions, Nipper beach activity and a demonstration by Boyd Arthur showing how to make a carved mango flower on a stick.

The event raised $15,500 this year for the North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club. A regular event on the summer calendar, Mess-tival has so far raised over $53,500 since its launch in 2012. 

The one-day festival has become an annual tradition, celebrating the peak of the mango season and the start of the Aussie Summer.

Mango growers from key production regions gathered to meet with the public and talk about the different varieties grown in Australia.

Hort Innovation CEO, Mr John Lloyd said the annual tradition perfectly aligns Aussie Mangoes with summer fun and reminds consumers of why they love mangoes so much.

“It is important to continue to build the Mess-tival tradition and create more mango memories for all the family,”
Mr Lloyd said. 

“Thank you to the growers who took time out of their busy schedules to talk to thousands of mango-loving consumers about the different Australia mango varieties. We are already looking forward to an even bigger and better Mess-tival in 2016.”

The Chaunsa has a Brix rating in the 22 degree level which is unheard of!
Carabao claims to be the sweetest mango in the world and was able to register this in the Guiness book of world records.
Perhaps it is time for a GLOBAL taste test ???
