Eurodiputado asegura que, en víspera del 6D, Venezuela está al borde de una crisis humanitaria

El vicepresidente del Grupo Popular Europeo, Esteban González Pons, que encabeza una delegación de cuatro eurodiputados del Partido Popular (PP) español invitados por la oposición para acompañar en las elecciones venezolanas, aseguró este sábado que el país caribeño está "al borde" de una crisis humanitaria.




"La situación política de Venezuela ya sabíamos que era extrema, lo que hemos descubierto es que la situación económica también y que Venezuela es un país que está al borde de una crisis humanitaria", afirmó Pons en declaraciones a Efe en Caracas.



El eurodiputado consideró que "por la política y la economía" el país caribeño "está en vísperas de un cambio" y añadió que le gustaría que mañana, domingo, por la noche "ganara quien ganara, se pusieran todos a la tarea de la reconstrucción política y económica del país a partir del lunes que viene".




Pons explicó que han solicitado al Gobierno venezolano que les permita "visitar a los presos políticos en prisión y a los que están en arresto domiciliario".



"Una nación que se permite tener casi cien presos políticos en la cárcel, que no podrán votar mañana, no es una nación en la que la democracia se esté realizando plenamente", señaló.




Asimismo, anunció que esta tarde serán recibidos por la canciller venezolana, Delcy Rodríguez, a quien volverán a pedir, "con todo el respeto", que les permita visitar al opositor Leopoldo López, condenado a casi 14 años de prisión.



"Creemos que es una exigencia como europeos que estamos aquí en Venezuela, acompañando el proceso electoral, el ver a los presos políticos y escuchar su opinión para poderla trasladar", indicó.




Pons destacó que en las legislativas de mañana "se dan todos los requisitos para que todo salga bien" y añadió que "si algo sale mal es porque alguien lo quiere".




"Estamos en vísperas de que sea un gran día para Venezuela y solo cabe demandar a todas las partes que durante el día se vote en paz, que el escrutinio sea transparente, que se acepten los resultados, gane quien gane, y que el lunes sea un día de principio, de reconstrucción", dijo.
