Import specialist Central American Produce is shipping mangoes stickered with Sesame Street characters.
Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Central American is marketing Mexican-grown Capco Farms mangoes with the Eat Brighter! label, a collaboration between Sesame Workshop and the Newark, Del.-based Produce Marketing Association, according to a news release.
Elmo and Cookie Monster are among the Sesame Street characters featured on the mango stickers, which are a great way to get the attention of the youngest consumers, Michael Warren, Central American’s president, said in the release.
“Helping young people is one of the core values of our company, so we want to inspire kids to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. If children learn to eat healthier, they are more likely to continue that behavior into adulthood. And in my personal experience, most children who try mangoes just love them.”
Eat Brighter!, which encourages kids to eat more fruits and vegetables, is a collaboration commissioned by the Partnership for a Healthier America, which works with the private sector and First Lady Michelle Obama to help fight the childhood obesity epidemic.
