Tropical fruit sales in the US are back on track after contracting by 2 per cent in 2014. Two reports published by the National Mango Board and Nielsen-Perishables Group show that the category grew by 11 per cent overall in 2015.

Mangoes led the charge, accounting for 44 per cent of dollar sales in the category. After an 8 per cent decline in 2014, weekly dollar sales per store increased 6 per cent, while volumes increased 16 per cent following a decline of 13 per cent in 2014.

However, the average retail price per mango fell by 8 per cent in 2015 to US$0.98. …

Mango volume shipped on week ending 5/21/16 was approximately 3,575,192 boxes.

During the same week last year, volume shipped was approximately 3,254,644 boxes. 

Total Mango volume arrived at U.S. entry port as of week ending 5/21/16 is approximately 41,056,947 boxes.

Mexico Crop Information
The Mexican season began in January and will run until October with a projection of approximately 66 million boxes.

Mexico's main varieties are Tommy Atkins (38%), Ataulfo (26%), Kent (20%), Haden (7%), Keitt (8%) and other (1%).

Volume shipped from Mexico was approximately 3,184,403 boxes for a total of 25,664,225 boxes for the season.
