NATIONAL MANGO BOARD WASTES MONEY ON YESTERDAYS CULTIVARS

The National Mango Board (NMB) continues to tax mango exporters and offers nothing in return.Since it's inception, the National Mango Board has churned through over 100 million dollars!Surely with that kind of funding the "Marketing" BOARD would have figured out that consumers are tired of fruit that taste horrible.Rather than continue to promote flavorless Florida cultivars, it is high time that the NMB focus efforts on getting premiere product out to potential consumers.Cultivar breeding in the western hemisphere is a critical component in making this happen.The National Mango Board must begin to use the millions of dollars they collect every year on breeding premiere cultivars such as Caraboa mangoes from the Philippines in humid climates and directing Chaunsa, Totapuri, Alphonse, and Kesar cultivars among others from India and Pakistan.As well as the much prized Nam Doc Mai cultivar from Thailand.Since Mexico growers pay roughly 60% of the taxes collected by the Nati…

PAKISTAN KICKS OFF MAJOR MANGO FESTIVAL

The world's most sought after mangoes will be on display in Multan for mango festival.Agriculture experts say that Asia has a 77% share in the production of mangoes. Pakistan exports mangoes to more than 50 countries, including Middle East, Europe, America, Japan, Mauritius, Kuwait, Muscat, Bahrain, France, Germany, Holland, Norway, Singapore and other countries.
